Ferhat Keskin emigrated to Germany in 1981 und started his acting development as a freelancer. From 1992 to 2006, he was part of the ensemble at the Theatre an der Ruhr under the direction of Roberto Ciulli. Since 2006, he works as a self-employed actor, performs at several theatres and was part in many TV shows and cinema films. Moreover, he works as a theater director at various theatres in the kurdish region of Iraq and in Turkey. He adapted plays like “Bluthochzeit” (eng. Blood Wedding) by F. Garcia Lorca, “Die Ausnahme und die Regel” (eng. The Exception and the Rule) by B. Brecht and “Yasar, er lebt und er lebt nicht” (eng. Yasar, he lives and he does not live) by the Turkish author Aziz Nesin.
Keskin creates theatre projects along with young people in Germany: He staged the plays “Das Türkisch Hochzeit”(eng. the turkish wedding) and “Licht bitte”(eng. light please) at the Theatre an der Ruhr. In 2010 he was awarded for the price “Kultur prägt! Künstlerinnen und Künstler begegnen Kindern und Jugendlichen“ (eng. Culture shapes! Artists meet children and adolescents) by the regional government of North Rhine Westphalia for directing the play “I Kill You”.
