The fourth nexus workshop was attended by actors Aziz Capkurt, David Fischer, Sevim Kesbir, Bettina Marrug, Andreas Meidinger and Gıyasettin Uçun. Frank Heuel conducted the workshop, Annika Ley developed the space for the scenic reading, and the dramaturge Claudia Grönemeyer and assistant Jennifer Merten were also involved. Translator was Nihat Mert.
Frank Heuel worked in small teams with the texts and developed various forms of multilingualism for the reading. In addition, the use of projections of texts and text parts was tried.
The work was very intense and while rehearsing on stage, text was edited and retranslated off the stage. Because the Kurdish language has many different dialects and differs greatly depending on the region. Even if we have all of our Kurdish texts available on Kurmanji and have all German texts translated into Kurmanschi, depending on which actor * reads in the text terms are incomprehensible or colloquial although it is common usage for others. Also written Kurmanchi is rare and the actors have to agree on pronunciations and accents.
On the evening of the presentation, the ensemble looked proudly on the jointly developed result and the audience was enthusiastic. Many of the Kurdish visitors said they are very happy to hear their language on stage.
On the following day, a reflection on the workshop as well as an outlook on possible further projects took place in the whole team.
